As the owner of the vehicle, you can take your vehicle to ANY collision repair facility you wish. It is illegal for insurance companies to "steer" you to a specific collision repair facility. It is your vehicle, so you get to decide where you want the repairs done.
Who is responsible to the repair shop for my repair bill - the insurance company or me?
You are. It is advisable to arrange payment prior to picking up your vehicle. You may direct an insurance company to pay the repair shop directly, but the shop should receive payment before you pick up your vehicle - or payment must be prearranged to the satisfaction of the repair facility.
What is the best procedure for me to get quality repairs and quickly get my vehicle back on the road?
Take your vehicle to a reputable collision repair facility - one you trust or which has been recommended by a trusted source. During the initial stages, be sure to provide the collision repair facility with any appropriate documentation relating to the accident, including police reports and insurance policies (estimates, etc.).
How much do estimates cost?
Our initial estimates are free of charge.
Must I obtain three estimates?
There is no legal requirement as to the number of estimates obtained, however, insurance companies are within their legal right to request a specific number. As the vehicle owner, you may obtain as many or as few estimates as you like.
What kind of parts will be used on my collision repair?
We work with you and your insurance company to get the best parts available for all collision repairs. New parts are always preferred; however in some instances, used or after market parts may be considered.
Will the paint color match?
Yes. We utilize a computerized color matching system. We match and blend as close as possible for an accurate color match.
How long will my collision repair take to complete?
Auto collision repair times depend on the size of the job. This will vary depending on part availability and the extent of damage to be repaired.
Do you offer loaner cars?
No, but we can assist you in finding low cost rentals through our car rental partners.
Can you waive my deductible?
No, your deductible is set by "YOU" when you purchased your insurance policy.
What does your warranty cover?
Our warranty covers the paint finish and our labor and craftsmanship. Parts warranties are set by each specific parts manufacturers and will vary. You will be given our warranty in writing when you pick up your vehicle after it has been repaired.
When can I bring my car in for repairs?
We take vehicles any day of the week at Krystal Auto Collision.
I don't believe that I was at fault in the auto accident. Should I use my own collision policy or try to collect from the other party?
If you are having difficulty in getting the other party's insurance company to assume liability, you may submit a claim to your company. Your insurance provider can subrogate to the other company on your behalf if they feel there is opportunity. They may be able to recover your deductible and rental car costs for you.
No one from the party at fault has made any effort to initiate the repairs of my vehicle. What can I do?
As the owner of the vehicle, only you have the legal right to make arrangements for its repair, not the insurance company. To expedite repairs, you may submit a claim to your company and then subrogate to the other company.
I am having a problem with the insurance company. Can the Department of Insurance help me?
Generally, the Department of Insurance can assist you. They can describe the scope of their authority to you. You may also want to consider the assistance of the State Attorney General's office.
